Group description
Our research group is focused on the geodynamic evolution of the terrestrial planets with special attention to the tectonic behavior of Mars and Venus. The planetary geodynamics group is integrated into a larger research group working also in terrestrial active tectonics and associated risks, included in the Department of Geodynamics, Stratigraphy and Paleontology of the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain).
The last decade we have been mainly working of Mars tectonics and geodynamics through two projects funded by the Spanish government: AMARTE (2015-2017) and TECTOMARTE (2019-2021). But the recent raising interest in the exploration of Venus with several future missions that are currently being evaluated by ESA and NASA, provided that our future research interests will include also Venusian geodynamics (a topic we have also experience with).
Our department includes facilities for analog modelling and 3D numerical modeling of deformation structures.
